Human Resource Services

SDAO provides advice and human resource related assistance to members enrolled in SDIS’s General Liability Program on issues related to your human resources functions.  In turn, our HR department is supported by our pre-loss legal services if your situation needs more legal guidance.

How do you access these services?
If your district needs assistance with a human resources issue, our staff can help. Such issues might include recruitment questions, policy development and review, guidance on new legislation and more.

You have multiple services available to you:

  1. Contact Monica Schultz, HR Manager for SDAO, directly at mschultz@sdao.com or 503-400-3130.  Monica will discuss with you what your HR concerns are and help to get you the information and/or resources you need.

  2. With your general liability coverage, you also are a part of the HR Answers Advantage Plus Program.  What that provides to you are a multitude of services, such as unlimited email and phone consultation about any HR subject or question, access and download capability for various HR guides covering topics such as performance management, ADA, FMLA/OFLA , sample employee handbooks and much more.

Contact HR Answers by calling 503-885-9815, option 1, or visit https://hranswers.com/contact/ and complete a request form online.

The objectives of the SDAO HR Alliance are:

  • Collaboration - An opportunity to connect with other HR professionals who work for districts. Pose questions and seek input regarding situations that someone else may have specific experience with. A wide variety of subject matter could be addressed, perhaps creative ideas to help you continue to support your employees, provide trainings, conduct recruitments, etc.

  • Feedback - Group responses and opportunities for discussion on various topics, including feedback from the SDAO pre-loss department.

  • Networking - Invitation to participate in the SDAO HR Alliance roundtables The roundtables are an excellent networking opportunity and give you the chance to gather with HR colleagues and build working relationships with other HR specialists who have “been there and done that”.
